Information for Foreign Students
The Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts was founded as «Minsk Institute of culture» in 1975.
For 40 years of successful activity the University has had the authority and great support with the Ministry of education and the Ministry of culture of the Republic of Belarus. Training of highly qualified specialists both for the Republic of Belarus and other countries has always been the primary objective of the University. In 1996 the attestation and accreditation of the University has been successfully passed, and in 1999 by the order of the Ministry of education of the Republic of Belarus the status of the leading higher educational establishment in the national system of education in the sphere of culture was given to the University. During the decades of successful work the University has discovered and brought up a lot of talents, making a significant contribution into cultural and creative life of the country and education system’s development.
Since the strategy of the University is turned to the 21st century appropriate curricula, modern information technologies and teaching methods are implanted here. In 2012 it was the first among higher educational establishments in the sphere of culture that was accredited as a scientific organization. It was allowed to conduct research activities at a qualitatively new level.
More than 60 monographs and 3 830 scientific articles have been published by the teaching staff representatives of the University over the last five years. The scientists of The Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts are annually honoured with high state awards, honorary titles for the great contribution into the development of the Belarusian science.
The University is one of the organizers and participants of the largest international and Republican festivals, forums and competitions.
More than 25 000 of young specialists received diplomas of the University during its existence. Highly qualified teaching staff helps the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts to train specialists of the highest qualification who have deep special knowledge and fundamental humanitarian training. Not only the preparation of the national specialists in the field of culture and art, but also the study, conservation, transmission, promotion, creative rethinking of the Belarusian people’s cultural heritage are carried out here. Careful attitude to national arts is instilled in future specialists. Modern curricula and programs, information technologies and teaching methods are introduced in the educational process. The Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts has got a high rating among the universities of Belarus due to a high level of scientific work, innovative training activities and large-scale artistic creativity.
The University has about 5.5 thousand students. More than 300 of them are foreign citizens. Teaching staff is 358 people, 170 of whom have academic degrees and/or titles. Being located in the centre of Minsk the University offers all the advantages of a modern higher educational establishment with an international reputation.
![]() Two buildings of the university hostel are located on the territory of the University. Blocks of double and triple rooms provide comfortable accommodation.
Students and undergraduates from China, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Nigeria, Cameroon, Armenia, Georgia, Iran, Iraq and other countries study at our University.
Belarus is known for its tolerance towards representatives of other nations and cultures. You will not face racial or ethnic discrimination in our country. Since the former Soviet Union we had a friendly attitude towards the foreigners.
We are proud to have retained a very high level of teaching and educational system that took all the best from the old higher school, and at the same time we instill and use the most progressive world experience.

The applicant should send the following documents to the department of international relations of the Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts to get an official invitation: • an application for the study; • a study certificate with the indication of subjects and marks received; • a copy of passport. The documents are to be translated into Russian, notarized and may be sent by post, fax, e-mail and are accepted till September, 30.
